A Nazgul and his horse X3
He's running ... after something ... Frodo maybe ? xD
I'm actually in a "LOTR" mood. I've even bough the DVDs 2 weeks ago ! But I can't see them now T__T
It's done with watercolors ... yes, it is ...
Seriously, I'm always amaze how my watercolors don't look like watercolors

Well, it's my fault, due to my technique, not watercolors' fault xD
The colors are strange and awful, but a little less in real life ... As always xD
Maintenant j'me dis que j'aurai du ajouter du sang sur l'épée

*mode sadique on*
And sorry for the big file :/
Time taken ? ... There are dozens of hours XD !!
J'ai bien failli péter un câble avant de le finir celui-là
EDIT : More than 300 favs ?!?!!? Thank you so much

Probably one of most my favourite works on deviantART, it portrays all that is Nazgul, beauty, terror and an unrelenting feel of doom. >:3
The artistic professionalism of the work is incredible, it has everything a grea work of art should have. Leading lines, creating by the trees, roots, even the direction of the flow of soil leads along the earth to the blackened face of the Nazgul. Colours swirl in complimentary perfection.
The only two flaws I could find, which took some searching, were as follows.
The sword looks as if is is pointing INTO the horse's shoulder and not along it, on a slightly inturned angle. All this requires is a trick of perspective, which could be solved in any situation by draw two squares, one at the source point, and one more slightly closer to the source point, then by creating two lines from the center of the closest square, curve inwards until they reach the center of the farthest square. OR the tip of the sword could have been larger to indicate it was closer to the viewer.
The second mistake I found was the movement of the horse, it doesn't feel as if it is galloping but moreso prancing, it's legs are tucked in, and all that would need to be done is to create some very mild contrast, for example the farthest back left leg were to be turned only on a slight angle, it would feel as if the horse was putting alot of energy into it's kicks and running.
But that is all I could find. The work is breathtaking, the contrast between the colours is perfect. The blend of dark dank greens, deathly blacks and superb purples. *Doku-sama has incredible knowledge of the way colours compliment one another and blend.
The originality is a hard one to judge, the idea of a Nazgul riding his steed though a forest is wonderful, but it has been done. I think the works magnificence more than compensates for this minor flaw.
*Doku-sama's style is perhaps one of my favourites on deviantART, I love the rich outlines and you can always tell when it's one of her works.
As I said before, this work is amazing and physically made me go "Wow." A perfect rendition of one of my most beloved tales.
Overall this is one of my favourite pieces on deviantART. It's magnificent and has very, very few flaws. *Doku-sama has an incredible grasp of artistic excellence, her style is original and refreshing and shows the talent of a professional artist.
